Chapter I

The Power Of The Emeralds

Just outside of Mobius lies a great, gray deadly weapon, the Death Egg. This where Sonic's battle with Dr. Eggman takes place.

Deep within Eggman's industrial base is the main control room. Here, Eggman himself is seen giving Sonic a sinister smirk from inside his gigantic Death Egg Robot, as Sonic glares at him with fury.

"You won't win, Egghead!", Sonic exclaimed. "I'm just too fast for you and your robots."

"That's what you think!", Eggman laughed. "With the power of all seven chaos emeralds in my clutches, you don't stand a chance against me and my Death Egg Robot."

"Ha!", Sonic yelled. "That hunk of scrap metal couldn't leave a scratch on me. And even if I actually needed help, I have a great pal of mine on his way."

"Oh," Eggman pretended to gasp.

Eggman stepped back, revealing a horrified Tails in a cage with laser bars, hanging from a silver chain.

"Is this your backup, or do you not need it?", Eggman cackled.

"Tails!", Sonic said with a frown. "What happened, buddy? What did you do to him, Egghead?!"

"Sonic, you need to juice out of here, now, while you still can.", Tails begged in fear of Sonic's safety.

"But Tails, I...", Sonic started.

"...There's no time to debate. Run!", Tails interrupted.

"I've got everything under control.", Sonic argued. "Everything's going to be cool!"

However, Sonic's cocky attitude got the best of him when the colossial door slammed shut behind him. His only chance to flee wasn't taken. Eggman then showed off the seven chaos emeralds in well-hidden compartments of his Death Egg Robot. Sonic was now terrified and Tails was ready to faint.

"Why Sonic, why?", Tails cried in dissapointment.

"I have an emerald powering up each arm and leg.", Eggman bragged. "I also have emeralds sealed inside the head, main body, and rear. You don't stand a chance!"

Sonic quickly sprang into action, preparing his Spindash attack. However, the robot stomped on him effortlessly.

When the robot lifted his foot, Sonic laid there squashed.

"Sonic, no!", Tails screamed in panic.

"Had enough yet?, Eggman taunted.

Sonic slowly lifted himself back up and leaped behind him to avoid ambush.

"Enough?", Sonic remarked. "Please, I'll never surrender."

Sonic then procedded to dash up the robot's right leg when missles that shot from the robot's knees followed him. Sonic then ran up to the head, bouncing off with perfect timing for the missiles to blast it.

Sonic laughed as he fell to the floor.

"Oh no you don't!", Eggman yelled, as the robot's hands extended long enough to grab Sonic before he finished his landing.

Eggman then went on slowly crushing Sonic with the robot's palms.

"Ready to call it quits?", Eggman boasted.

"Never!", Sonic groaned.

Sonic could barely speak under the pressure he was in. Because of this, his lungs are being crushed, causing him to have trouble breathing.

"Oh no!", Tails shouted. "What going to happen to us now?"

Tails then attempted to slip between two laser bars to assist Sonic. In doing this, he tripped and escaped, leaving only his legs and two tails paralyzed. Lying on the metallic floor helpless, he began to cry.

The sound of Tails' sorrow had Eggman distracted long enough for his now loosened grip on Sonic to allow Sonic to free himself from the robot's hands.

Immediately afterwards, the robot prepared to punch Sonic with his right fist. Sonic quickly dashed away from the punch, went behind the robot, and poked its back twice, prompting it to turn around. Just as the robot turns around, the robot tries smashing Sonic into the floor with his fist, which Sonic evades.

"Auuuuugh!", Eggman yelled in aggravation. "Take this!", he screamed, raising the robot's fist again.

As the robot is preparing to punch Sonic, he sprints to the front of the main computer. As the robot lowers his fist, Sonic gets out of the way, having the robot smash the control room's computer. The robot was then electrocuted, causing it to release the blue chaos emerald out of its right arm. Sonic then grabbed it as the robot's right arm falls off, freeing the robot from electrocution.

Alarms began to sound.

"Curses!", Eggman shrieked. "What have you done to my computer?"

Sonic then ran to Tails to see if he was okay.

"Tails? Hey, Tails!", Sonic said with worry.

"I'm fine.", Tails replied. "Don't worry about me. The paralysis should only last a few more minutes."

"But, Tails...", Sonic started.

"... Err Augh! I've had enough of you!", Eggman screamed, as his robot's left hand slapped Sonic hard enough to send him flying for the wall on the other side of the room.

Sonic then slammed onto the wall, dropped his emerald, and collapsed to the floor with a loud thud.

"Sonic!", Tails shouted in terror, as Sonic lost consciousness.

Eggman then aimed his finger laser at the unconcious Sonic.

Despite his paralysis, Tails began to crawl towards Sonic, in an attempt to save him from certain death. He was using his arms to push forward, just barely moving a foot with each thrust. The laser was ready to fire, and Tails wasn't quite there yet. Sonic had slowly awakened and, for not evening a full second, saw the red laser fire at him, hearing a muffled Tails screaming and Eggman laughing maniacally.

"Sonic, why?!", Tails cried as he gazed upon Sonic's dead body and took the emerald he dropped, holding it tightly. "I was too late."

"Initiating self-destruction...", all the alarms shouted simultaneously in a robotic tone.

"Wake up, Sonic!", Tails' voice was heard.

Sonic then opened his eyes and found himself lying down in bed inside his hut.

"Tails, I'm alive?!", Sonic asked with a sigh of relief, as he stretched his arms and legs.

"Of course you are, Sonic.", Tails replied. "Now you have to get out of bed, the chaos emeralds are missing."

Sonic's nightmare has him aboard the reconstructed Death Egg battling a more powerful Death Egg Robot. However, this time things don't go as planned. He would then wake up to some unfortunate news...
